NBA All-Star Weekend - Primetime Marketing!
For anyone who watched any of the NBA All-Star weekend festivities, there was an abundance of marketing and adversing going on. Did you notice? What brands stood out to you??? Well in case you missed them, B.M.M.O. Consulting will give you a replay of ones that were sure standouts! The most prominent brand that leads the pack was the NBA, but of course, its their event they had to be! They shined the light on the NBATV channel, they sent you to the web to do voting, once there, they had plenty of links to click to tune you in and even live streaming of events. NBA promoted it's self very well. Two other channels were hosts of NBA festivities, they were TNT and ESPN, both channels are already known for hosting NBA games so this comes as no surprise to have them televise these contests. Saturday night's events were big game players in the promotions game. From the KIA OPTIMA SX being used in the SPRITE SLAM DUNK CONTEST by BLAKE GRIFFIN and on Sunday the T-MOBILE MAGENTA CARPET to usher in guests, that's 4 brands in one sentence. That's just how jam packed the marketing game was. Lets not forget the half time performances that rocked the house. Rihanna brought Drake and Kanye West on stage to woo the crowd with her performance. The game ended with the West winning and Kobe taking home the MVP, but the East celebrated also, as Lebron made history as only the second player to get a triple double during the All-Star game. Chicago's very own Michael Jordan was the first to set this record. It was a jam packed weekend of fun. We hope you tuned in and saw all the fun, this by far was one of the best Slam Dunk Contests we've witnessed and we will be watching to see what the second half the season has to bring!

Today's Black History Fact
On this day, 75 years ago Barbara Jordan was born. Barbara Jordan was the first Black to give the keynote address at a national political convention. She was an educator, a lawyer and a Congresswoman. In 1972 she became the first African American woman elected to Congress from Texas, and first African American woman elected to U. S. House of Representatives from the South. Just 4 years later she was the keynotes speaker at the Democratic National Convention, where she nominated President Jimmy Carter. In 1992 she was the keynote speaker again and she nominated President Bill Clinton. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994. Barbara died on January 17, 1996. Today we salute Barbara Jordan for paving the way for strong powerful Black women of today. Let her serve as a role model for the greatness that we can achieve.

Looking For A Great Lunch Idea Today??
Manny's Coffee Shop & Deli is a favorite to B.M.M.O. Consulting and President Obama. It is a restaurant that B.M.M.O. has frequented for many years. While our favorite is a corned beef sandwich and a potato pancake, Manny's has so much more to offer. Just last month they announced that they would be taking the Deli to the Retail. You will now be able to find Manny's Corned Beef Hash and Potato Pancake Batter in a grocery store near you. This sounds like an awesome opportunity for Manny's and its consumers, but, will the store brand be able to live up to the restaurant taste? Many times restaurants try take their brand from the inside and sell it to the outside public, but don't take into account shelf life and the difference in taste from what the consumer has grown to love. We wish Manny's Deli all the best and hope they have mastered the recipe so people can get the same taste at home or inside the deli. We must point out, this is a good marketing decision to start off with a small product offering to test the waters, rather than try to sell everything without knowing how well the demand will hold up. Good Look and Good Luck Manny's!

Shinning the Light on A Deserving Organization - 4BlackYouth.com
This week NBC Chicago highlighted 4BlackYouth.com, it was founded two years ago by Reginald Dunlop. He founded this organization to help provide mentor opportunities to young Black youth. He wanted to provide them resources from people who looked like them and could relate to them. The program has grown into more than just a mentoring program to now, a full circle resource center. 4BlackYouth.com provides tutoring, scholarship opportunities and job opening information. This site allows teens and young adults to talk to people who are in careers that they aspire to pursue. It has job descriptions as well to give a better understanding of what the careers are all about. They provide 24 tutoring help for $70 a month. You can log on to their site and someone will be there to assist with your needs for as long as you need them. This is a wonderful opportunity to help increase the productivity of our youth. 4BlackYouth.com provides a positive roadmap for success and opportunity. After reading this I hope that you will take a look at their site and do what you can to further help build up our community and our youth!

Michael Jackson and The Grammy Awards
Today's Black History Fact is very prevalent, it relates to the late, Great Michael Jackson and The Grammy's which will be airing this evening.

Michael Jackson, singer, songwriter, and entertainer extraordinaire, was nominated for 12 Grammy awards and won a record-breaking eight in 1984. He has received 13 Grammy awards in his career, and is a double inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as part of the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist). He holds the title of Most Top 10 Singles from an album for Thriller (1982) and the Most No. 1 Singles from an album for Bad (1987).
Michael Jackson was truly BAD!!!! And dearly missed!

Home Depot - The New Woman's Store???
In an effort to increase their women buying potential Home Depot has come together with Martha Stewart to come up with new household products and paint colors to appeal to the woman consumer. Home Depot has always been seen as the man's big hardware store. The buying power of women has increased over years with more single mothers and young single women, so Home Depot has set out to cash in on this new market. In the past Home Depot set up weekly workshops to get women in to learn how to do small do-it-yourself projects. These sessions brought the women in, but didn't help to keep them coming back. Instead they returned to smaller hardware stores for their needs. With Martha Stewart pulling her line from K-Mart due to poor sales, this is a great business venture for the two to collaborate on. Home Depot knows hardware and Martha knows women and how to appeal to them. Ladies keep an eye out, these products should show in stores very soon. Men, watch out, Home Depot may soon be flooded with women, no longer the man's store!

B.M.M.O. Consulting's Top Super Bowl Commercial
B.M.M.O. Consulting would like to congratulate the Green Bay Packers on their Super Bowl Victory. The second most important thing about the Super Bowl is the commercials. B.M.M.O. Consulting gives it's top pick and explains why. For the auto industry there was a strong theme, "we are the brands that are making American products so support us!" The food commercials were all about having you taste the product while watching the commercial. The Doritos : Best For Last left me wishing I had bought a bag before the game!

Daimler Chrysler: Eminem Detroit
This commercial was my favorite because it brought the heart of Detroit together. Chrysler did a good job of bringing Detroit's own Eminem, prominent Detroit venues, a gospel choir and the all new Chrysler 200. This was our favorite because of the harmony and the tough time Detroit has been having, this was so rejuvenating. It captured your heart, it told the story of how it is rebuilding and are a people that keeps fighting. They wanted you to know they're not the "Windy City," "Sin City," or no "Emerald City," but its making its mark. Good Job Chrysler!!

Superbowl Sunday!!!
B.M.M.O. Consulting would like to say Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all. Have fun, cheer on your favorite team and be safe. Best of luck to both teams, here's to a good, injury free game! While I am a sports enthusiast, I will be looking to see the marketing that goes on during the commercials. I hear Pepsico has spent some high advertising dollars and E-Trade promises not to disappoint. Who's going home with the trophy???

Do You Like SItting Down?
B.M.M.O. Consulting would like to take part in the celebration of Black History Month by providing some facts about the history of African Americans.
Nathaniel Alexander was the first to patent the folding chair. He designed the chair for schools, churches and large events. We now use the chair house gatherings, parties and general seating functions. If it were not for Alexander Nathaniel, where would you sit?
