Looking for A Night In?..Netflix has You Covered

Going to the movie theater has taken a back seat these days with the opportunity to watch movies from the comfort of your own home and for the price of only one person, movie streaming is becoming very popular .  Several companies have come out with video streaming, and fear not, more are coming.  Here is some insight into Netflix and how they are making their way back into the movie industry.

With Netflix you can watch unlimited videos for only $7.99  a month.  You can stream through video game consoles such as the Wii, XBox 360 and PS3, internet televisions and mobile devices such as iPhone and the iPad, as well as Tivo.  Sounds too good to be true right??  Well for the most part it isn't.  While Netflix faces some challenges on the library of content, they still provide a large selection of TV shows and movies to keep your night going strong.

Netflix is seeing great growth in subscribers and profits.  Per CNN Money it's shares ended 15% higher on this past Thursday after showing strong increase from it's fourth-quarter earnings.  While RedBox hurt them in the dvd rental forum, they are coming to overtake the streaming video arena.  Keep watching, there's always a competitor on the rise.

Kraft Store Kiosks Marketing Program

Food Planning Made Easier

Kraft Foods has come up with an idea to make shopping easier for those indecisive grocery shoppers.  When you come into the store, you will go to their kiosk, they will scan your face, determine what demographic you fit in and suggest Kraft products to help you select meal options.  It will also provide you with recipes and even a treat just for using it!  The machine will distribute samples of Kraft products for you to snack on while shopping in the store.  For those of you who are really interested, you can input your phone number or swipe your store discount card and they will look at your past shopping experience to help recommend food as well.  You can also use Kraft's iFood Assistant to store recipes on your smartphone.

This sounds like an amazing way to make shopping easier, but what are some possible flaws with this??  Lets start by addressing the the scan.  How accurate will the scan be?  How will it know to match up the correct demographics.  Will it match a stressed out college student to the profile of a mother with kids because of their appearance?  Will it match a 40-year old single woman to food for a family because she looks like the age for the married with kids demographic.  Has Kraft prepared for incorrect scanning and the effects it will have on the consumer and their patience?  While regardless of age, most recipes are transparent, but this is something I hope Kraft has tested and prepared a back up system for.  The second possible flaw addresses the sharing of personal information.  We have become such a highly technological society and everything is done wirelessly these days.  But what type of security does Kraft have to protect the consumers information.  Will they be sharing this information?  Will this increase telemarketing calls???  How will the security of the consumer's information be protected?

A double bonus for Kraft is that the kiosk provides suggestive Kraft products for the day's meal and they give out samples of other food products they offer.  This allows Kraft to market specific products along with possibly debuting new products to try on consumers, smart marketing decision!

We look forward to seeing how this new system will work out, other brands are also testing out such software to see if it can enhance their products.  Head on over and try it out!

When Does Marketing Become Unhealthy?

The group WHO, which stands for World Health Organization, is taking a stand against childhood obesity.  They do this by trying to reduce the marketing to kids of unhealthy foods and beverages.  Forty-Two million children under the age of 5 are suffering from obesity; this is not only sad, but also dangerous.  The health risks that are associated with carrying around extra weight are deadly.  Per WHO, children's eating patterns are influenced by television advertisements of foods high in fat and calories.  WHO has made a recommendation to the government that children see limited advertisements for unhealthy foods.  A way this can be done is by monitoring the commercials advertised on children and teen specific television stations.  "WHO believes that the governments must establish this act through the legislation of restricted harmful marketing practices directed toward children."

Michelle Obama launched her plan to help fight childhood obesity back in May of 2010.  She set goals that she wanted to see take place to help decrease the childhood obesity rates.  She has the same views as WHO on the importance of positive marketing of food for children.

While advertisers play a large role in what is put on television, it is also up to parents to do their part to monitor what they feed their children.  We all play a part; lets all support the cause to raise healthy children!

Game On...7.7 Million

BET’s “The Game," formerly on The CW network, made a huge comeback from its 2-year hiatus.  It boasted a 7.7 million viewership.  This is amazing for a show that has been off the air for two years.  Fans solicited to get this show back on the air when The CW network decided to not renew the show.  Executive producer Salim Akil gives BET rave reviews on letting her be creative in writing and in advertising for the season.  Bringing “The Game” to BET is the network’s way of trying to renew viewership and to get an image change.  On top of The Game, BET also premiered their new sitcom “Let’s Stay Together,” which had 4.4 million viewers and has another one in the works called “Reed Between the Lines.”  BET is on the move to promote true entertainment written by talented writers, not just another reality show.  The Game is being shot in Atlanta now and will have 13 episodes this season.

The Game Stats

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebrating the Dream

01-15-29 --- 04-04-68

Today is the governmental observed day for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  King's actual birthday was on Saturday, January 15, 2011.  B.M.M.O. Consulting would like to take time out and acknowledge Martin Luther King Jr. and his numerous contributions to the freedoms that we are all privileged to have today.  Below we will share some quotes that B.M.M.O. Consulting feel inspired by and feel are still relevant to now.

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
We as a people have to be willing to stand up to the injustices of the world and be willing to help one another.  While individually we can do nothing, but collectively if we come together we can change a nation.  Start of small, just help your brother or sister right next to you struggling and hopefully they will pay you back by helping the person next to them and the trend can continue.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Unfortunately, several years later, this still proves to be the truth!  We spend more money on fighting other folk's wars than we do on educating our children and opening programs to keep them busy after school so they can be productive and not running the streets.  We have to invest in our youth as well as our elderly, they paved the way for us to be where we are today.  This nation needs to move to place where the advancement of our people is our top priority!

I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
This speaks volumes.  It's time we look at people for who they tell us they are and who their character shows they are.  Lets not have preconceived notions about people based upon what they wear and the cars they drive.  Deep inside them may live dreams that get killed because no one welcomes them.  Take the time to be open to new people and new ideas, you never know what you might learn.

The quotes above are just a few of the many ground breaking quotes by Dr. King.  Take a look at the link below and read some more.  Educate yourself and those around you so that King's Dream will forever live on.
